About Us

About Us

Basingstoke Ju Jutsu Club was started as a not for profit club on same day as the official foundation of the Mizu Ryu Ju Jutsu syllabus we teach, 24th April 1994.

The Basingstoke club has always prided itself on compassion, camaraderie, holistic training, passion for the arts, realism and quality, rather than quantity and profit and purposely keeps classes small.

We have always been open to all and welcome anyone wishing to train, regardless of age, race, sex, gender, ability or experience.

Fluent as water,

Forceful as the floods of spring.

Flexible response.

~ Haiku of Mizu Ryu Ju Jutsu

What we teach

Mizu Ryu Ju Jutsu is a Gendai or modern Japanese style of Ju Jutsu.

The syllabus is a mixture of traditional Ju Jutsu techniques (punches, kicks, throws and groundwork), for both a sport application and self defence. We have a modern outlook to situational awareness and all the mental and emotional aspects that go in tandem with that training. We train with some of the traditional techniques which form the basis of a sound self defence, tempered by a modern outlook & application based on real experience.

Many traditionalists don't compete
Many modern fighters have no traditional foundation
Many of both have no real fight experience...............................we have all 3.
